Here’s what her colleague, Ms Nermeen had to say about her.<\/p>\n

Very dedicated and skilled teacher who is able to deliver content in a meaningful and engaging manner that is age appropriate. How did you get into teaching?<\/em><\/h3>\n

When I made the decision to become a teacher, I asked myself, \u201cWhy didn\u2019t you make this career choice years ago?\u201d The reason for the \u201cself-questioning\u201d is due to the fact that precisely 20 years ago my dear, wise mother, who was a teacher, suggested that I choose teaching as a major as I headed off to college. Even though I knew she was probably right (in the back of my mind, never to admit to my mom), I had my sights set on studying child psychology. I had a strong desire to help young people and make a positive difference in their lives. I have worked with children of varying ages, in many different capacities and settings over the past 25 years. Whether it was babysitting as a teenager, facilitating groups of children who had been witness to domestic abuse, teaching preschoolers, or serving as a daycare director, I had the pleasure of daily interaction with children. I have been continuously motivated by the infectious laughter and endless enthusiasm of children and couldn\u2019t imagine choosing a career where children were not involved. Entering the field of teaching, after so many years of working with children, seemed like a very natural step to take.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What do you hope for your students?<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

My hope, for my wonderful class of first grade students, is that they will go forward with the self confidence needed to continue being the best they can be. They have amazed me this year with their academic ability and enthusiasm towards learning. All of my first grade students this year have shown incredible inquisitiveness, persistence and determination. I hope that they continue towards a life-long love of learning.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Anything you’d like to share with us? e.g. favorite moments, etc.<\/em><\/h3>\n

I look forward to going to school each morning to spend the day with my group of first grade children, which is a reward in itself. I am honored by this nomination!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
